"Melody Gardots nye dobbeltalbum, 'Sunset in the Blue', vedkender sig (...) i dén grad den silkebløde arv fra jazzens guldrandede bossanova-epoke ... Hovedparten af sangene er skrevet af Melody Gardot ... uanset om Gardot synger på engelsk eller portugisisk (...) er det bare uforskammet behageligt og delikat sat i scene af Gardot ... Når jeg hører Melody Gardot synge sine egne og andres sange på 'Sunset in the Blue', er jeg ikke i tvivl om, at jeg er i selskab med en sanger af høj klasse. Som denne gang har begået et album, jeg kommer til at høre rigtig ofte i de kommende vintermåneder ... 'Sunset in the Blue' rammer det gyldne snit mellem længsel og en bittelille dråbe smerte, som er albummets emotionelle omdrejningspunkt. Det er evergreen kærlighed".
