"Det er de færreste bands forundt at have en fanbase, der tillader én så stort et kreativt spillerum, som Ulvers gør det. Uanset hvilken retning, nordmændene bevæger sig i, følger deres fans troligt med, fordi musikken på tværs af genreskel bevarer en særligt ulversk kerne. Det er også derfor, Ulver fortsat bliver anmeldt i metalmagasiner som dette, selvom deres musik ikke har haft noget at gøre med metal siden årtusindskiftet. Og det er derfor, det ikke kommer som en overraskelse, at de denne gang har valgt at lave en electropopplade. Selvfølgelig har Ulver det".

"Ulver must be the most unpredictable act in rock music. A year ago they were awash in the psych-rock drones and eddies of ATGCLVLSSCAP; but on The Assassination Of Julius Caesar they are utterly unrecognisable as the same band. The lyrical concerns may be similar - fun stuff like nihilism, entropy and apocalypse - but the grinding drones have been supplanted by a morbid electropop in which dark matters are smuggled through via engaging melodies and vocals".
