"Ultimately, Virgin Ubiquity, Vol. 2 is only going to appeal to the hardcore element in Ayers' fan base, but for those folks, it will come as a welcome addition to his catalog".

"Caught at his creative peak between "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" and "Africa", the restrictive LP format meant many of the songs gushing from the veteran singer-vibraphonist at that time remained in his vaults. In 2004/05, BBE corrailed two selections on two stellar sets; out of print for years, they've been repressed, and can't be recommended highly enough. Slinky session royalty grooves welding funk, soul and disco, astronomical vocal performances from Merry Clayton and Carla Vaughn, plus, of course, Ayers' superlative vibraphone imbue gems like "I Just Wanna Give It Up" and "Brand New Feeling" with an intoxicating allure that could never be mistaken for anyone else ... Pure gold".
