"Blood Bank certainly dispels concerns that Vernon's accomplishment was somehow environmental - that For Emma's poetic circumstances, and not its contents, were responsible for its success. Blood Bank is still a wintry record - there's snow on the cover, and lyrics about snow, and, if you listen on vinyl, the metaphorical snow of hissing surface noise - but Bon Iver is hardly a seasonal taste".

"The EP sounds like outtakes from Emma, but not in a bad way. "Blood Bank," with its subtly propulsive drums and idiosyncratic lyrics, would have been one of the album's best moments".

I den indledende 'Blood Bank' genkender man straks den glødende, menneskelige fornemmelse, og med åbningslinjen, 'I met you at the blood bank, we were looking at the bags', bliver scenen øjeblikkeligt sat".
