" If Good to Be... sometimes is a little too cozy - it's executed well and its unifying spirit is evident, but a cover of "Lean on Me" still feels a little overly familiar - it's nevertheless a warm, welcoming album that's every bit as soothing and comforting as Keb' Mo' intended it to be".

"Few artists invest as much soul and passion into their art as Keb Mo. Although his basis may be the blues, his music incorporates folk, soul, country, and R&B in a way that eludes easy categorization, but still comes across as effortlessly engaging while imbuing consistent good vibes and an ease brought about through infectious enthusiasm".

"If you were looking for a slot to stick Mo' in, "The Medicine Man," co-produced with Secor, sums up what the Moore/Mo' persona is all about. It's all over the place, genre-wise, a soulful tumbleweed rolling, collecting all kinds of musical lint as it bops along. Part hoedown, part sermon, part good-time throwdown, the serious medicinal message is rolled up in an easy-to-swallow prescription. "The whole damn world is singin' the blues / The president lost, but he don't want to go / Mother Earth, she needs a little help you know," Mo' diagnoses. But he has a solution: "I can't tell what the future holds / It might turn to crap, it might turn to gold / Maybe the bees might teach the pigs to fly / But I'm just gonna love everybody 'til the day I die." The doctor is in. Listen, learn, and heal".

"Keb' Mo', a blues musician for the sake of genre labeling, continues to prove that he is genre-agnostic on Good to Be Me ... So, the sprawling Good to Be Me, may seem unfocussed to those who prefer a consistent groove, yet this is what Keb' Mo' has long been about - as blues, R&B, in this case bluegrass, and several other forms of roots music coalesce into his singular, comforting, infectious style ... This soothing, peaceful album reminds us to take stock of who we are, where we've been, but mostly to just appreciate the moments at hand. It's the kind of album that only a superior artist could pull off without sounding cheesy or pat. Keb' Mo' has already won five Grammys. His sixth may well be on its way".

"The artist formerly known as Kevin Moore follows his Grammy-winning collaboration with Taj Mahal with another solid effort ... Mo's delivery remains distinctive, no matter who shares his spotlight. He delivers 13 varied tracks effortlessly, nodding to a major influence by covering Bill Withers' "Lean On Me". A streak of pandemic humour surfaces in "The Medicine Man", and some of his guests beamed in remotely, but this sounds not unlike a live back-porch performance. Is he blues, country or Americana? At 70, Mo' has earned the right to be uncategorisable. (Cowboy) hats off to him".

"On top of his game, Mo' retains the sound of cordiality and compassion in his singing voice, and his songwriting exhibits his gift for emotionally direct melodies. He's all for the power of love, hope, resiliency and rootedness. However, "Good To Be (Back Home)," a salute to his childhood neighborhood near Los Angeles, is excessively sentimental, and several of his love songs, including main offender "Quiet Moments," tend toward saccharinity".
