"Vurdering: Recording of the month" - "This latest CD book is perhaps his most ambitious, both musically and in terms of its scope. He takes War and Peace for his theme ... I was left repeatedly amazed that Savall and his performers are so good at such a wider range of repertoire ... All told, then, this is an incredibly impressive achievement ... This isn't just an impressive musical release: it's a whole cultural festival within two covers. Both for its ambitions and for its artistic standards, it deserves to do well".

"Yet the Turkish tracks (despite the glaring lack of information on who plays what) are among the more interesting elements in this collection, which otherwise dashes between the capitals of Europe offering mostly two- and three-minute evocations of battle, defeat, victory, and royal pomp and circumstance. We got som Lullyan splendour, some Lutherian choral grace, and some lovely Andalusian melodies, but the concluding Handel Jubilate Deo only serves to put Biber and co. in the shade".
