"By any standard, and by all means, Panola County Spirit is African-American gospel music in its purest form, performed by the Walker Family Singers with their renown dignity and grace".

"The Walker Family Singers are truly special. The gospel tradition is an inseparable part of their everyday lives. Until Reilly came along and coaxed them, the music was never meant to be shared outside their home or church. On Panola County Spirit, they've allowed us a glimpse inside their world, one where faith, hope, earthly struggle, and the love of God and one another frame its dimensions. The Walkers believe that music serves an end: to worship and glorify God. This album is their evidence. It can be listened to with pleasure, but it can also be experienced".

"Had the Staple Singers not expanded on their gospel underpinnings, their bio might read much like that of North Mississippi Hill Country a cappella group the Walker Family Singers ... Gospel purists will embrace this Spirit".
