"The tracks on Partners showcase a pleasing balance between Streisand's various stylistic wheelhouses from Broadway standards, to adult contemporary pop, to classical crossover, and even a hint of country (as her duet with Blake Shelton reveals). While certainly a novelty, the digitally created, fan-service duet with the late Elvis Presley (Streisand's original choice of co-star for A Star Is Born) is tastefully and lovingly crafted. Ultimately, Partners works as guided tour down Streisand's memory lane, and with her resonant voice still in supple shape, any excuse to hear her sing is a welcome invitation".

"Does any lover of Streisand's classic Evergreen really need to hear Babyface redundantly repeating "ever ever" after her? It sounds like Stevie Wonder joins her at a Holiday Inn foyer keyboard to bicker over who gets the last word on People. Desperate to do something different with The Way we Were, Lionel Richie panics and breaks up the word "water/colour". Billy Joel's New York State of Mind loses its everyman bluesiness, while the way she cosies up to Elvis's oblivious bones on Love me Tender does nothing to enhance the reputation of the posthumous duet".
