"Katharina Baüml and Capella de la Torre demonstrate imaginative responses to the music with a modest arsenal ... Careful thought has been given to varying the colour spectrum which, going hand-in-hand with the sensitive vocal deployment, effortlessly holds our attention".

"Skip Sempé has given himself and Capriccio Stravagante something of a 25th-anniversary gift with this excellent, period performance rendering of the German composer Michael Praetorius ... The pleasure principle might be uppermost here, but that doesn't preclude a playful sophistication, as well as seductive sobriety. The players improvise exuberantly, as if at some Renaissance jam session; they are clearly having a ball".

"Sempe and his Capriccio Stravagante Renaissance Orchstra approach Praetorius's French dances more as art music than as simple dances ... Sempe's high-octane direction ... combines ebullient energy with high refinement and unwavering technical command ... This is an impressive and profoundly engaging recording".
