"A judiciously programmed recital of operatic arias from Latvian mezzo Elina Garanca, mixing the familiar with the obscure, promises much and delivers plenty ... Revelations come with the French rarities ... Yves Abel and his Bolognese band offer solid support. Overall, this is a splendid operatic recital ... This release should appeal to aficionados of fine singing, especially in French repertoire somewhat 'off the beaten track'".

"Vurdering: Gramophone choice" - "Marguerite's soliloquy [Berlioz: La damnation de Faust], accompanied by an eloquent cor anglais, is movingly done; and Garanca gets even better ... Garanca is sensuous without being vampish - quite an achievement in this part [as Dalila (Saint-Saëns)] ... [She] moves effortlessly from top to bottom without ever sacrificing beauty of tone ... Fans - and others - need not hesitate".
