""Songbird" contains a remixed selection from her 1984 and 2004 solo albums, along with two previously unreleased tracks and a newly orchestrated version of the title track. The booklet includes an in-depth interview by Johnnie Walker, where the background to each song is discussed in detail ... This collection has been produced and remixed by Glyn Johns, with Guy Fletcher and Ethan Johns adding new instrumentation to the majority of tracks. This helps to give the 1980's era cuts a more contemporary feel, and also achieves the goal of making this sound like a fairly seamless mix of songs".

"As beautiful as these songs are, this release feels like a missed opportunity to fully represent her lifetime's artistry. That would have been both legendary and perfect".

"Fleetwood Mac's long-reigning queen of the blues explores life, love and male shortcomings on a remastered solo career resumé ... 'Songbird' doesn't overstay its welcome, and a few more entries from the catalogue (including those missing Billboard hits) would have been welcome. But there's a sense here of McVie shoring up her legacy, and gently reminding the world that the Mac's brilliant, bickering Buckingham and Nicks aren't their only gifted songwriters".
