"Richard Cooke bringt eine beeindruckende, schon fast kinotaugliche Aufführung auf die Beine. Es gibt wunderbar kontemplative Momente, zupackend Dramatisches, das Tempo ist insgesamt recht hoch. Dieser Zugriff bekommt dem Werk erstaunlich gut".

"Vurdering: BBC music choral song choice" - "Mark Elder has perfect control of the large forces and dramatic pacing. Brindley Sherratt is an affecting, dark-voiced, haunted Judas, Jacques Imbrailo an authoritative Jesus ... I'm inclined to rate this new Hallé version the most nearly definitive Apostles yet".
