"APKA! integrates the creative lessons of all her previous outings and executes them boldly, in beautifully crafted artfully performed songs. While Tropix bridged past and present, with APKA! she sings from the future to reference the past and present in what currently amounts to Céu's artistic manifesto".

"Céu has long been an internationally-renowned creative force, as potent in her most easy and straightforward moments as in her most forward-facing and electric. APKÁ! has elements of it all: loud, quiet, sober, and utterly vivacious. But this is hardly a simple recap of her career to date. Every second of APKÁ! is fresh and new, and Céu, 15 years into her global fame, continues to grow and try new things with a trustworthy team and wisdom that shows in how well-informed her creative choices ultimately are. Céu's vision works on a cosmic scale, and I continue to anticipate what could come next eagerly".

"Sublime-voiced Latin prime mover continues to modernise Brazilian pop: Exotic, intrepid and ever-lovely, its title is a made-up word that her one-year-old son with drummer, programmer and co-producer Pupillo uses to say he's feeling fine ... "Corpocontinente" and opener "Off (Sad Siri)" wind around slow echoing stumble-beats for a beach-idyllic tunecraft descended from vintage bossa ... "Make Sure Your Head Is Above", written for her by Dinho from Tropicália-tinged combo Boogarins, features deft picking by sometime Tom Waits guitarist Marc Ribot, who also adds Devo-esque offbeat clangs to "Forçar O Verão". Both tracks substantially further Céu's remit, particularly the former's build-up of squalling disquiet before a blessed melodic release. Such moments of tension make the sweetness of "Nada Irreal"'s mellow funk, "Rotação"'s kooky pop and the sashaying "Pardo", specially composed by Tropicália legend Caetano Veloso, all the more blissful".
