"Bursting out of the fertile Marseille music scene as a more easygoing and acoustic-based offshoot of local roughnecks Massilia Sound System, they appeared to arrive fully formed a few years back, singing in Occitan (a Provençal lingo that died out in the 1920s) and mixing the traditional music of their seaport home with blues and Caribbean influences ... They're back and sounding more confident than ever. Artemis opens with the hiphop-folk of Embarcatz (complete with a highly infectious wordless hook) before romping its way through blues, banjo-driven stompers, gypsy jazz, salty ballads and Brazilian flavoured tracks. Arrangements are stripped down but lively and lead singer Tatou is on fine gravelly form".
