"Initially, Day-Glo (Based on a True Story) sounds like a stripped-back exercise in minimal electronica rather than pop, but repeated listens reveal rich layers of sound brought to new life by one of the most singular forces in pop".

"Even amid the various guises and standards of today's Pop music, Erasure's style and discipline remain something for enthusiasts to look forward to and for new artists to aspire for. With Bell's distinctive voice and Clarke's prolific songwriting genius, Erasure's music is surely here to stay for at least a couple decades and several albums more. Day-Glo (Based on a True Story) is another testament to that".

"Erasure have always had more beneath the hood than they've necessarily been given credit for. There's been bangers-a-plenty (of course there are), but Clarke and Bell are more than a two-headed pop machine.: one an electronica veteran, never a stranger to an icy synthscape; and the other able to tap into a quiet, studied introspection as easily as he can sugar-rush flamboyance. They're skills they both put to use on Day-Glo".

"'Day-Glo (based On A True Story)' skal ikke betragtes som et nyt studiealbum, men derimod som moduleringer over numre fra det seneste værk, 'The Neon' (2020). Maskinmester Vince Clarke sampler kollegaens, Andy Bells, vokal, og lydkollagerne er sine steder ganske delikate, men sangmæssigt er der godt nok langt op til materialet fra mesterværkerne".
