"Some weighty talent here: Bamba Wassoulou Groove was launched in Bamako in 2012 by percussionist Bamaba Dembele who, 40 years previously, was a founder of the revered Super Djata Band, a contemporary and rival (and sometime member) of Super Rail Band in their heyday. Djata were famed for bringing US soul and funk into Malaian music. Old habits persist in his new band, with a good deal of rock influence in the mix. Principally, it comes from the eye-popping guitar work, both solo and ensemble ... Of the two lead guitarist, the bluesier Moussa Diabaté has form: he too played in the legendary Super Rail Band, as did kit drummer Maguett Diop. Lead guitarist number two Dainï Diabaté claims inspiration from Jerry Garcia and Jorma Kaukonen, as well as Bambara hunter's kamele ngoni. Just might be enough to bust your brains out".
