Greenfields : the Gibb brothers' songbook vol. 1

"Greenfields takes its title from a line in "Butterfly", here performed with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. The song is wistful and reflective. Gibb's voice over the top of the other two suggests he's the one with the memories. The track's placement at the end suggests a looking backward, which is odd as the album is labeled a "Part 1". Perhaps that's reading too much into the words, but as Dolly Parton notes on her spritely version of the song "Words", words are all we have... That's not exactly true here. We have the music. The album stands as proof that Gibb still has much more to offer".

"All in all, Greenfields is an admirable effort, and hearing these songs again, even in an altered context, serves their memory well. Any gift from the Gibbs, past or present, is still well worth cherishing".

"Barry Gibb fra Bee Gees smider bagkataloget ned i en spand med countrypop. Det havde han virkelig ikke behøvet ... dette besynderligt overproducerede miskmask af en slags coverplade er i bedste fald et fejlskud (...) hvor Barry Gibb indædt forsøger at puste nyt liv i gamle sange ved at tvinge dem ned i halsen på folk, der måske bare gerne vil mindes gamle dage - og nu får det serveret som en gang glatpoleret og strømlinet countrypop ... Det store problem med 'Greenfields' er, at originalversionerne er så gode, som de er. Det er mig en gåde, hvorfor denne plade skulle laves".
