"Basco is a Danish band that keeps pushing themselves. Their development over the course of six albums (this is their fouth studio release) kas been staggering. They love to try new things and urge the music on. Even when they take a traditional piece, they tear it apart and rebuild it as their own, as they do here with the venerable "Sir Patrick Spens". With a new, fitting tune, and a stunning arrangement, it banishes memories of all those other versions, even the landmark one from Fairport. That apart, it's mostly instrumental, and all original ... There's an almost empathetic interplay between the musicians that's heavily grounded in Nordic folk but certainly not limited to it. From the swift to the sublimely serene, they capture moods beautifully. Yes, we do live in interesting times (as the Chinese curse goes), but a soundtrack like this make them more palatable".
