"20 years on from the release of Intoxicated Man, Mick Harvey winds up his intermittent Serge Gainsbourg covers project with a collection largely focusing on songs Gainsbourg wrote for women.Perhaps the third volume, Delirium Tremens, led the way, containing as it did a selection of songs from the TV special Anna, whose originals - recorded with Anna Karina - remain perfectly sun-kissed pop. On Intoxicated Women, Harvey takes in sardonic yé-yé, Swinging 60s kitsch and no small dose of ennui. His re-recording of En Relisant Ta Lettre is masterful, remorselessly picking out the spelling and grammar mistakes in an ex-lover's letter. Chanson De Prévert, too, is elegantly wistful, its simple acoustic arrangement faithful to the original".

"Harvey sends off his final Gainsbourg project with the same spirit he introduced it with: savvy, humor, and an illuminating musical and literary spirit that defies anyone to follow him. Ultimately, it's perhaps the only kind of tribute Gainsbourg could - or would - accept".
