"Strut consistently does what every label based around reissuing compilations should strive to do: sets a high standard and then continues to raise the bar. Without a second of filler, the team does it once more - for their 20th anniversary, no less - with No Wahala, continuing to fill in the sonic picture of 1970s and 1980s Nigerian music for today's audience".

"The original "Nigeria 70", released in 2001, remains the gold standard for crate-digger compilations emanating from West Africa: its roll call (...) proved Lagos to be a red-hot melting pot of musical talent. The fourth volume continues the quality but widens the focus to include the Delta State, Abuja and the border with Benin. Not that incremental cultural differences are going to be perceptible to most of us - we're just here for dancing, right? In which case, Don Bruce & The Angels' "Kinuye" may be the find of the year, the better-known Rex Williams hits a groove with "Psychedelic Shoes", and "Iziegbe", by Sir Victor Uwaifo & His Titibitis, will keep a party going into the small hours. Sonically, all nicely cleaned up, too".

"In most of the world, the constraints that separate music into genres-folk, pop, jazz, rap, rock-are more fluid than they are in the United States and Europe. Most players around the world have been interacting musically, without regard to borders, and producing more hybrids than it's possible to keep track of. A case in point is Nigeria 70: No Wahala: Highlife, Afro-Funk & Juju 1973-1987 (...). This compilation showcases 12 tracks, influenced, in part, by the sounds of American soul, funk and r&b that became increasingly popular in Africa during the '60s and early '70s".
