"Sangene på 'Quickie' er lige så korte som på The Magnetic Fields' mesterværk '69 Love Songs' (1999) - fra 12 sekunder til to et halvt minut. Lidt frustrerende, når 'Love Gone Wrong' knap nok når at folde sig ud. Men det er også en del af charmen hos rock'n'roll-manden Stephin Merritt, hovedmanden bag projektet ... De 28 sange er effektfulde (og underlige) kærlighedsbreve på rockvers (...) Men sangene er generøse og bliver kun bedre og bedre".
