"As a whole, the program is genuinely joyous. Deutsche Grammophon's sound from the ZKO-Haus in Zurich is over-resonant for music that still basically had chamber dimensions, but that is about the only quibble regarding a thoroughly enjoyable outing from Hope".

"Some may miss the high-adrenalin count and espressivo clout of, say, Herbert von Karajan's early 1980s digital Berlin remake [of the Tchaikovsky], yet Hope is more successful at capturing the music's Italianate sparkle and charm ... Even more persuasive is a performance of Elgar's Serenade that captures its quintessential Englishness, outdoor freshness and spontaneity with a captivating inner glow".

"Vurdering: BBC music orchestral choice" - "The 18 players match airy nimbleness with richness of sound".

"The 19-strong string ensemble makes a big-boned sound, closely miked ... It launches into the Souvenir de Florence with bold confidence ... In the shorter numbers, Schmidt leads a wistful Valse sentimentale, while October from The Seasons particularly suits the cello spotlight, his glowing tone warm and inviting".

"Hope is the ZKO's fifth music director, taking over from Roger Norrington in 2016. His approach to Mozart - here the serenade Eine kleine Nachtmusik - isn't as lean or vibratoless as Norrington but it is bright and bold, and cleanly played ... But the main interest on this album is the wonderful reading of Tchaikovsky's Serenade ... This is ardent, passionate playing, completely persuasive ... Warmly recommended".

"New recordings of Tchaikovsky's carefree and endearingly garrulous Souvenir de Florence ... are alway welcome and this athletic offering from the richly experienced Pierre Amoyal and hos 13-strong Camerata de Lausanne certainly hits the spot".

"This is a pleasant performance, the gentle pizzicato accompaniment to the Adagio cantabile a feather bed for a lovely violin solo ... One immediately notices the RVE's firm, resonant sound, in a brisk, businesslike performance, cleanly articulated ... This is a promising debut disc".
