"Liegt es am Soloinstrument, dass Saariahos 'Trans' (2015) für Harfe und Orchester so viel statischer wirkt als ihre Konzerte für Violine und Klarinette? Die Statik generiert hier freilich die meditative Ruhe eines Stilllebens. Und die Klangwelt ist so bilderreich und filigran gewirkt wie in Saariahos besten Werken. Der Liedzyklus 'True Fire' (2014) ... die ausgewählten (englischen!) texte [sind] zu spröde. Gerald Finleys differenzierte Umsetzung lässt dieses Manko allerdings kaum spüren".

Where the vocal line is focused, the orchestral writing would be nothing without its surface effects ... Ciel d'hiver, a downsized version of the central movement of Saariaho's Orion (2002) ... is patiently, broodingly and richly played by Lintu and the FRSO. This was the composer in good vintage delivering a chilling, slab-like crescendo with a clear focal point ... Those were the days".
