"The Black Angels deserve credit for attempting what is, in essence, a mini-concept album rendered in subtle, muted shades. It's a lot to tackle in seven songs, but there's a depth and richness in both texture and songwriting that show glimpses of a new direction, one that might free them from their own drone-rock noose".

"Best of all is closing track 'Linda's Gone', a superb homage to The Velvet Underground where an oozing drone resembling the cacophonous viola from 'Venus In Furs', meets the guitar rattles of 'Run Run Run' and Alex Maas' drowsy vocal completes the trip with references to The Doors' 'LA Woman'. The Black Angels' psych scholarship pays dividends here".
