"Iolanta is concerned with the transition from darkness to light ... The cast is led by Ekaterina Scherbachenko as a touching Iolanta ... But time and again one's attention is caught by Sellars's telling direction: faces suffused in light, faces caught in profile ... Persephone, also about light and dark, is staged with the same set ... Currentzis conducts both pieces impeccably: don't miss".

"Heroines Iolanta and Perséphone both move from a fearful darkness to light, on the same minimal set ... What clarity there is comes from the singers, matched in Perséphone by the intensity of tenor Paul Groves and the speaking heroine, Dominique Blanc".
