"Perhaps Vivaldi's best secular vocal piece ... and these musicians make a fine job of it. The four singers are widely experienced in period performance and the recently formed Orchestre del'Opéra Royal are very much in the top class. Director Diego Fasolis has decades of experience to draw on. All in all, this only had to be well recorded for a recommendation to be ensured. Well recorded it certainly is ... Those attracted by this series of recordings from Château de Versailles Spectacles should not hesitate to add this CD to their collections because the quality of performances and productions in the issues so far has been very impressive. This one is no exception, and I am certainly pleased to have heard it".

"Musically the most convincing of Vivaldi's three surviving serenatas. Lovers of chamber and dramatic cantatas by Handel might already know just how effective La Risonanza's performances can be. Under Fabio Bonizzoni's stylish direction, the ensemble once more beguiles our senses with Vivaldi's hugely appealing serenata ... Of the five complete recordings of the work, this is the strongest".

"The music is very good, much of it showing Vivaldi's vocal writing at its most relaxed and delightful ... Virtuosity is kept largely under control and the roles as differentiated as they could ever be; Senna, a free-flowing bass, is an especially happy creation ... Bonizzoni's route through the score is ... sure and sympathetic, and the orchestra performs prettily throughout".

"Serenata - a cross between a cantata and an unstaged opera ... Baroque operas may have had labyrinthine plots, but with a serenata you were lucky if you got any real storyline at all ... Fabio Bonizzoni and La Risonanza take a fairly purist view, using wind instruments only where they are explicitly called for ... Fernandez is a perfect choice here ... ideally partnered by countertenor Martin Oro - clean, supple and never prone to operatic outbursts ... A wonderful way to sample Vivaldi's light operatic style on a small stage".

"Those who enjoy Vivaldi as a composer of brilliantly attractive vocal music while finding his operas somewhat casual in their response to drama could do worse than spend 80 minutes in the company of La Senna festeggiante (The festive Seine) ... It is a piece that offers only delight ... Diego Fasolis conducts with his ussual energetic detail, the sound is bright and present ... and everyone seems to be fired up on their game ... conveying all the carefree joy and beauty they should".
