"The results, drawn largely from the 80s, can be heard on this new compilation from Analog Africa, as traditional styles such as Mornas, Coladeiras and Funaná (which had been banned by the Portuguese former rulers due to its perceived sensuality) were given a vital shot in the arm with futuristic, synth-heavy updates. Antonio Sanches provides two highlights; Pinta Manta is full of synth squelch and funky guitar runs, while Djal Bai Si Camin is an irresistible hip-swayer. But this dancefloor-focused comp is full of such gems, whose rarity, alongside the usual excellent booklet, make this another exemplary entry into Analog Africa's peerless African archive".
