"Neil Young's best ever solo acoustic concert recording from early 1971 finally sees the light of day - on disc and DVD - half a century after it was recorded ... Young Shakespeare is the latest gem to be unearthed from his vaults: a pristine live recording of Young at his simplest and purest - just his voice, his acoustic guitar and his harmonica (and occasionally at the piano), recorded on his Journey Through The Past solo tour in early 1971. It's spellbinding".

"The vibe is intimate, even sweet, with Neil joking with the crowd during the elongated "Sugar Mountain," an emotion that is present on Live at Massey Hall but is more intensely felt here. The subtle distinction gives Young Shakespeare its own character, one that's charming in its casual friendliness. This is more modest than monumental, and that small scale is appealing in its own right".

"Young Shakespeare [er] nu er på gaden: Optaget 22. januar 1971 i amerikanske Stratford, Connecticut ... Alvor og humor. Indadvendt og ekstrovert på samme tid. En solist på toppen af sit game (...) Young selv betragter optagelsen som en af sine absolutte live-favoritter - en af de reneste optagelser med ham overhovedet. Det kan man kun være enig i (...) Et must for fans".

"Neil Young's performance for Young Shakespeare is absolutely superb. In fact, this is the very kind of show by which this great rock iconoclast elevated his profile around the time of his earliest collaborations with Crazy Horse (in its first incarnation) as well as Crosby Stills and Nash".
