"This fifth album by a Tinariwen sideshoot (...) takes more liberties with the desert blues than any recordings that have so far come out of the heart of the Sahara. The guitars still seek out a camel-walk groove, the vocal harmonies ooze the pain of a relentlessly pitiless life, yet there is a joy in the music you'd be hard-pushed to find before. Opener Anabayou kicks off with a beat reminiscent of bhangra; Tafouk Télé surges along on a motorik rhythm; Karambani sounds like nothing less than - in a very, very good way - Boney M at their most outrageously playful. Truth is, there's little Nile Rodgers could teach this lot about using a guitar to get people dancing".

""Alone" (...) sees the band team up once again with producer Justin Adams to deliver a distinctly more rocking sound than has previously been the case. The band are true stalwarts of the Tuareg guitar and (...) occasionally the album sounds a little like a band who've done this all before ... Elsewhere the band are in more engaging form as on opening track Adabayou (...), and Tafouk Télé. On these tracks Tuareg tradition meets Justin Adams' (sometimes slightly overdone) drum-heavy production with good effect".
