"The record devolves from that boundary-pushing genre-defying gem almost immediately and reverts back to the lazy reggae-jam stylings that are inescapable at the lower caliber summer music festivals. While the instrumentation is often fairly impressive, there are only a few moments outside of "Build" that genuinely overcome the genre's obvious shortcomings".

"Where their first two albums were performed mostly in French and Spanish respectively, this latest from summery San Franciscans R&AFs finds them switching to English and a slightly more straight-ahead approach ... There are strong elements of reggae (including a California-ised cover of the Clash's Guns of Brixton), much globally-infused pop and a few songs which stand out from the pack. Most notably the closing Electric_Gumbo_Radio with its insistent hook and Brazilian drum crack".
