"Dabringhaus und Grimm continue their survey with another interesting and well-filled disc, 53 songs in total, from the composer's American period ... Once again, I find myself impressed with Holger Falk's voice, especially as he changes effortlessly from the cabaret-sounding songs to the more expressive sounding song styles represented here. He seems an ideal exponent of this music ... Steffen Schleiermacher once again proves to be an excellent pianist and accompanist, with his wonderful playing adding a lot to these song texts ... An intriguing disc, one which fills in some blanks in my Hanns Eisler collection".

Erste Wahl".

"The third volume of Holger Falk and Steffen Schleiermacher's superb survey of the songs of Hanns Eisler sees them reach the composer's greatest achievement in the genre: the Hollywood Songbook ... Throughout, Falk and Schleiermacher bring the same qualities so this generous programme as they did to the previous instalments. The baritone's voice is light in colour with an inherently gentle quality to it, but capable of impressive intensity in the upper range. His delivery is subtle: expressive - often fearlessly so - but never flirting with being maudlin or mawkish; constantly alive to the irony and satire that's never far away ... Another excellent addition to an important survey".
