"A great champion of Baroque choral music is German conductor Helmuth Rilling, the first to record the complete Bach cantatas. Those are benchmarks and so any reissue of his work with his Gächinger Kantorei is worth seeking out. 'Bach - Secular Cantatas' is an eight-disc set of recordings made by the choir, with their regular orchestral partners, the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, between 1994 and 2000. Unsurprisingly it's a feast, with solo turns from the likes of Mathias Goerne, Michael Volle, Christine Schäfer and Thomas Quasthoff".
