"More conservatoire than ceilidh, the ten tracks (...) aren't straightahead, 32-bar, AA-BB traditional dance tunes, but nonetheless possess a strong sense of regional identity in both the songs and instrumental compositions ... The choppy rhythms, layers of circular riffs, textures, drones, dynamics and modern, indie sensibility inevitably suggest a kinship with (and the influence of) Lau, and the paired vocals have something of The Unthanks' quiet intensity about them.
