"Phoenix are as decadent and beguiling as ever. Their sixth album is a romantic, glossy, soft-pop ode to sweet escapes and dance floors, though at times their pleasure-seeking falls flat".

"When things click, as on the album's standout track Tuttifrutti, and the melancholic tang of the band's best songwriting peeks out behind the silly stuff, it works gloriously. But occasionally, as on the gelato-worshipping Fior Di Latte or the sub-Moroder Fleur De Lys, the mix seesaws into preposterousness. Ti Amo is a bold experiment, but Phoenix would be better served by keeping things chilled".

"Phoenix are at their most fun when they're writing in the margins of pop history: The glowing electro ballad "Lovelife" is the AM radio smash Kraftwerk never had, while "Telefono" suggests the Doobie Brothers as indie-pop Continentals. Even when you can't tell what Mars is singing about (which is a lot), the music radiates a suave majesty that feels universal".
